“Podcasting is a great way to connect with an audience, showcase what you know, and build relationships with listeners.”
Introduction:
Ever thought about adding podcasting to your marketing strategy? That's right! They're not just for tuning into murder mysteries or learning new skills. Podcasts can be a game-changer for your marketing efforts. Whether you start your own or appear as a guest on others, the potential to connect with people who want to hear from you is limitless.
They're like a test drive without commitment.
Podcasting is a great way to connect with an audience, showcase what you know, and build relationships with listeners. Plus, it's an awesome way to share your story in a personal and authentic format.
The intimate nature of podcasts fosters a personal connection with listeners, and the conversational style makes them feel more like engaging discussions than one-sided presentations. As a result, your audience feels more connected to your message, brand, and to you. By being approachable and relatable, you can really boost audience loyalty because they enjoy listening while, at the same time, you're providing them with helpful information.
Cost-Effective Marketing
Creating a podcast or participating in an episode of someone else's podcast involves minimal cost compared to other forms of content creation. Compare the yearly cost of a podcast editor with taking out a once-off ad in the local paper, and podcasting easily comes up the best value. You can even edit it yourself, although I wouldn't recommend it if you're already doing all the other things in your business. Get an editor to create your social media posts and keep your episode delivery on track. Most podcasts usually only survive up to 7 episodes. If that sounds challenging, outsource to an editor!
One of the coolest ways to leverage podcasts is by being a guest on them. I recently had the chance to be on Rachel Reiter's podcast - BrandLover, and it was so much fun! I have my own podcast, and I'm used to asking the questions, so it was a lot of fun to be on the other end this time. Sometimes, being asked the questions allows you to share your message in a natural and less planned way because you're responding to their interest and talking about what you love.
As a guest, you benefit from the platform and audience the podcast host has already built without the investment of time and resources required to maintain your show. This makes it a highly cost-effective marketing strategy and a great way to start if you don't have the time to create your own.
Podcasts offer a fantastic platform to extend your brand's reach. Unlike traditional content formats, podcasts can be consumed on the go—during commutes, workouts, or leisurely walks. This accessibility ensures that your message reaches a broader and more diverse audience than you might capture through blogs or videos alone.
With AI endlessly regurgitating information on the Internet, the personal communication of your unique experience will be more engaging and welcomed by an audience. You can establish your position as knowledgeable in your industry, which boosts your credibility. When people see you as an expert, they trust your brand more, increasing their engagement with your product or service and encouraging loyalty.
Podcasts offer numerous benefits for businesses, from building personal connections and fostering credibility to reaching a wider audience and driving engagement. With their conversational tone and on-demand nature, podcasts are an effective marketing tool that I would recommend - whether your own or as a guest - that you can leverage to share insights, tell stories, and connect with listeners on a deeper level.

Active voice tells you who did the action - person or thing. Sarah took the coffee. We proposed a new plan. Think of the Optus data breach apology “We’re deeply sorry.” If Optus had included “Mistakes were made”, - this would have been a passive voice.
